Dutch Schulze Dutch Schulze began his career as a sculptor in 1970, working with clay and carving wood. In 1985 he began sculpting glass using the pate de verre technique. He was soon assisting in the creation of large, blown glass vessels as Plum Trees Glass Studio at Sixes, Oregon. In 1991, Dutch built his own studio, Vitra Glass. Dutch employs a color technique that involves layers of different transparent colors over opaque design patterns. This produces a rich, subtly complex background upon which he picks up hot twisted cane and murrini. Dutch also makes non-vessel, sculptural cast glass as well as blown glass. In 1997, Dutch moved to Bandon and expanded the studio to include a glass art gallery. The new facility is called Bandon Glass Art Studios.
